TRICOLOR collision with Kariba: February challenges

Early February:

  • Wreck no longer visible above waterline at low tide
  • Appeared to have sunk further into seabed
  • Continuous heavy weather prevented safe diving inspections
  • 14.02.03: Diving surveys reveal structural damages to port side hull
  • Other vessels having struck TRICOLOR have contributed to these damages
  • Present pollution risk perceived to be low, as remaining quantity of oil onboard estimated to be less than 10 % of original quantity
