• Nicola struck TRICOLOR despite warnings
• Further hull damage to TRICOLOR

• Nicola pulled off by tugs

Tuesday 17.12.2002:

• Two near misses reported during the night
• Second wreck marker buoy installed by French authorities

Thursday 19.12.2002:

• Decided to deploy enhanced system of buoys around TRICOLOR
• French authorities start installation on 20.12.2002
• Five buoys - 600 m radius (North, East, West and two South)
• System deployed 26.12: One buoy (South) to emit radio beacon signal

Monday 23.12.2002:

• SMIT crane barge Asian Hercules II on site
• Oil recovery from TRICOLOR starts
• TRICOLOR declared total loss

• French authorities issue wreck removal order
