With the delivery yesterday of one more large section from the ’Tricolor’ wreckage to the scrap site in Zeebrugge, Belgium, all large sections have been removed from the seabed. Up until today the salvage team has removed in excess of 8.500 tons of debris.

Work on ‘Tricolor’ wreckage continues
The floating sheerlegs ‘Taklift 4’ continues its work on the ‘Tricolor’ wreckage. Since the salvage operation resumed on 15 May, the floating sheerlegs has lifted approx. 3.500 tons of debris from the seabed.

The operation to cut the TRICOLOR has commenced once again late Monday evening the 28th of July. Divers have succeeded in replacing the cutting wire prior to the start. The operation was hampered due to unfavourable weather conditions over the weekend.

Cutting of the ‘TRICOLOR’ successful, but hampered by weather conditions
The cutting of the first compartment of the sunken ‘Tricolor’ is almost half way. Almost 15.2 meters have been cut. The salvage team is preparing to cut the enormous propeller shaft of the car carrier. In order to make that the cutting wire will work its way trough this shaft, the wire needs to be changed. At the moment, bad weather conditions on the site prevent divers from executing this work.
