In the course of last weekend, the salvage team of the TRICOLOR continued to be harassed by strong winds and currents and the resulting high swell. Weather forecasts for the weekend had looked promising at the end of last week, but the expected good weather never materialised.

Even at this very moment, strong winds and currents continue to hamper the team and especially the divers. It is impossible for them to work any longer than one hour per dive. The strong current renders their task of attaching lifting frames to the second section of the TRICOLOR extremely exhausting. According to weather forecasts matters may improve by midweek. If the winds and currents are indeed going to slacken by that time, the salvage team of the TRICOLOR may have the opportunity to commence with the second lift upcoming Wednesday.

The salvage of the TRICOLOR is being carried out by the ‘Combinatie Berging Tricolor’, a consortium consisting of: SMIT Salvage B.V., Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors N.V., URS Salvage & Maritime Contracting N.V., and Multraship Salvage B.V. The salvage contract was awarded to the consortium by Wilh. Wilhelmsen and Gard Services.
